ACCOMMODATIONS

Individual Camp housing is well-situated in the heart of this campus. Our standard and deluxe cabins are walking distance from the Dining Hall, Lake, Sports Courts, and Games Fields. Boys and girls are divided into separate climate-controlled cabins with other campers of the same age. Standard cabins hold anywhere from 14-20 people with community-style bathrooms and is staffed by two Summer staffers and one volunteer. Deluxe cabins hold 18-20 people. Roommate requests within the same age range are honored as accommodations permit and can be made during the registration process.

STAFF

Glen Lake strives to hire spiritually mature college students to serve at our summer camps. We tour around during the fall and early spring recruiting from many different colleges to find students who have a heart for Jesus, service, and adventure. It is a tall order but in it we see God provide each summer with an amazing set of students to fill our staff. We also spend a week or more training the staff to our camp’s specific needs and with Ministry Safe trainings. During the hiring and interview processes we run background checks and reference checks. Glen Lake Summer Staff become the hands and feet during camp. They pour love and encouragement into each camper as they serve in this amazing way. Glen Lake also has Junior Counselor and Volunteer programs that help provide support to our Summer Staff and campers during the summer.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Camper safety is of the upmost importance at Glen Lake. Our staff are all First Aid and CPR certified and complete Ministry Safe trainings. We follow Ministry Safe guidelines when staffing a minimum of 2 adults per cabin. We train and certify staff to lifeguard at our water activities and our Zipline, climbing wall, and low ropes. We follow state camp licensing requirements. Glen Lake also has a Camp Nurse that provides medication dispersant, first aid, and works with families to determine the course of action should an illness arise. Glen Lake is also less than 1 mile from the Glen Rose Medical Center should the need arise for more advanced medical care.

FOOD & DINING SERVICES

Glen Lake strives to provide camper friendly options in our menus. Breakfast offers daily hot options and a fruit and cereal bar option. Lunch offers a hot option and a full salad bar. Dinner offers a hot option and dessert along with a full salad bar and various drink selections. In an attempted to prevent dehydration Glen Lake does not serve soda at meals, nor does it sell soda in our Snack Shack. We encourage campers to drink lots of water. Glen Lake does understand the need for special dietary restrictions due to allergies or health concerns. We do our best to provide several options at each meal or provide a space to store or warm up food brought from home. If you have a concern or special dietary restrictions please contact our office and we can work with you to make a plan.
