The cross on the cliff edge at Glen Lake Camp represents many different things to our campers and guests. Campers are excited to get outdoors in God’s creation and tackle the challenge of crossing the river, scaling the river’s rock edge, and following the trail to the 25 foot cross. For others, it is viewing a cross that sits at the highest point of the camp & retreat center demonstrating a site committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ. Sometimes the hike reveals an experience filled with friendly animal sightings, shaded paths and breathtaking views. Other times a hike can present physical challenges, devastating temperatures, and slippery rock trails.
This last season has been a challenging hike for Glen Lake Camp. Our spring retreat season came to a halt as the pandemic forced closures and stay-at-home orders. As the summer neared we had to make the difficult decision to cancel our summer camp season. Glen Lake served over 14,000 guests in the 2019 retreat season, but the pandemic continues to limit guest group’s ability to plan and gather for retreats. The hike we are facing is full of challenges, but Glen Lake Camp is creating new ways for guests to experience our camp and retreat center. We are currently hosting a group of college students for their fall semester in our cabins. The intentional Christian community is gathering and sharing meals and daily prayer together. Our year round staff are creating additional experiences for guests in an effort to continue to be a place of retreat.
I am reaching out to you for your prayers. You can help Glen Lake Camp by praying for our staff leadership team, Board of Directors, and for the individuals that have been and will be impacted by this ministry. This Glen Lake team will be committing to pray each day of September. We hope you can join us. You can connect with us here on our blog each day to pray with us as we seek God’s guidance in our next steps. Starting September 1st you will find a scripture and information about the ministry of Glen Lake Camp to guide your prayer time every morning. We look forward to joining you in prayer as we seek God’s guidance in making plans for the continued ministry of Glen Lake Camp and Retreat Center. Grace & Peace, Natalie Davidson Executive Director
